ARR President’s Run Brings Runners Together in Great Harwood

On 3 January 2026, around 40 members and friends of Accrington Road Runners gathered at the Dog & Otter in Great Harwood for the club’s annual President’s Run.

Club President Karen Jackson welcomed everyone before runners split into three groups and headed out onto the local hills. The groups regrouped at the top of Bowley Hill for a photo before continuing their routes, taking in the crisp winter conditions and fantastic views around Dean Clough Reservoir and the surrounding countryside.

Despite the freezing temperatures, the challenging climbs soon warmed everyone up. After the run, members returned to the Dog & Otter to thaw out and enjoy breakfast butties and refreshments together.

Accrington Road Runners welcome new members of all abilities. The club meets every Tuesday at 6:20pm at Accrington Cricket Club, with four running groups available to suit different paces.
