Congratulations to our Mens and Ladies prize winning teams at the inaugaural WIGAN HALF MARATHON (ARR points race)

We had 27 ARR entries. This brilliant result, in a field exceeding 2000 runners, once again shows the indomitable competitive team spirit that exists in our club. Its no mean feat to take on much bigger North West clubs and come out on top !  Well done to every single one of our ARR runners that battled through the difficult rainswept conditions.

Winning Mens team   -

Chris Walton, Chris Halstead, Martin King, Paul Gallacher

Winning Ladies team  -

Cath Derbyshire, Laura Hudson, Kaye Callaghan, Lisa Boyle

According to the finish results websites :  individual runners entered the race from 155  different clubs/organisations !

Congratulations to Les Readfearn on being voted Runner of the Month for February.

Les has returned to the club (and running) this year after being away for some time. He has shown fantastic progress on a Tuesday night and is now a regular in Group Two. The highlight so far has been his PB at the Ron Hill 10k. Well Done Les good to see you back.

Health and Safety - advance notice of suitable footwear for Tuesday OFF ROAD club training nights

Starting soon when the 'clocks change', be prepared to run off road routes, unless your group leader advises otherwise..

Please ensure you wear Trail Shoes as they are waterproof and designed to provide tread grip traction in muddy underfoot conditions. Wearing road shoes can potentially be an accident waiting to happen !!

Just a reminder – Wilsons Athletics Track is available to us every Thursday, 5:30pm to 6:30pm. We have a number of runners of all abilities currently using this facility for track sessions. Everyone is welcome! Speedwork doesn’t just make you run faster, it makes you more comfortable at all speeds and increases your fitness. Remember to ‘sign in’ & pay £2 to Hyndburn Athletics in the office next to the changing rooms.

Just a reminder to all our runners regarding the rule on club vests.
When competing in any race or event as an attached member of Accrington Road Runners; it is expected you wear (and display) a club vest.
This is particularly important when representing the club in team events and in our club races.
The club vest helps advertise and promote the club gives us a presence in races.
